Big Cartel vs Etsy

I've been running my shop through Big Cartel for a while now and although it's been fairly popular I am considering the switch over to Etsy. It would be really nice to hear some opinions on which you think is the better shopfront out of the two or even if there is a better choice.

Nobrow are an independent printing and publishing studio based in Shoreditch London, they regularly work with artists such as Ben Newman and Jack Teagle to name but a few. Everything they release is limited edition and I can guarantee that looking on their website will have a detrimental effect on your bank account!

Gatchaman revisited

Now I am back I have revisited one of my screen prints and made a small painting of it.
Painted using a mixture of system 3 acrylics and chromacolour animation paints.

This saturday we will be opening The Badger Press in Bishops Waltham for everyone to come and have a look round. We will have paper toys for people to customise, people will be screen printing so you can see the process in action, we will have lots of work by local artists for sale and also tea, cakes and biscuits.

A new print has landed in my shop this week "Citizen Ghost #1" is my first

Dark City Gallery

Well, the week is over and it's been pretty hectic. This week we ran a stall at a Scifi convention in Eastleigh, attended a film festival, did a camera test for a zombie film with Charmed Apocalypse and I got to record some singing if you can call it that on my friend Lord Lav's new album.
So all in all it's been a good week!

At the SF convention in Eastleigh I had the great pleasure of meeting Ross and Kellyann who run Dark City Gallery, they sell one off pieces of art and limited edition screen prints, including this screen print by Dan Mumford which I bought from them.

Four colour with glow in the dark highlights, 18x24" signed edition of 110.
Unlike the God Machine Predator screen print that I missed, I was lucky enough to see this for the first time at the show and grab a copy before they all went! The amount of work DCG had on show and the amount of knowledge they have about their prints was amazing. It was also great to see a lot of work by so many artists up close as you can never judge a piece of work on a computer monitor.

New prints!

I have been busy down in the studio working on some new prints, so here they are.

The first to drop is Diamond head followed by a fluorescent pink variant of Slimer in an edition of 10.

Diamond Head - 4 colour, signed, un-numbered edition on 150 gsm acid-free 

Norfolk cartridge paper.

Green edition of 100, Pink edition of 10.

The Twins

The Twins see the beginning and end of time simultaneously, forever aware that they cannot alter the chain of events that unfold before their ever watchful eyes.

This print is an open ended edition and I will produce a few different colour runs of it in the near future.

Do you hear strange noises in the middle of the night?

I am gradually amassing a fine collection of art work, and a few days ago received a new piece by Mexican artist German Orozco. Sold in an edition of 100 and signed by the artist the print was produced for 1988 galleries 3G art show (Gremlins, Goonies and Ghostbusters).
The detail and brushwork are amazing, right down to the name badges which have been meticulously painted and the Giclee print is very well produced.

Slimer

Without a doubt Ghostbusters is one of the greatest comedies, if not films of all time and to show my appreciation I will be working on a series of GB screen prints. So i've decided to start with Slimer and am currently working on Sandman from Dream Me a Dream. If you have any other suggestions I would love to hear them. Just leave a comment below.

The print is a three colour hand pulled screen print on 150 gsm acid-free Norfolk cartridge paper and is limited to an edition of 100. They are available in my shop, so get em while they're hot!

All editions are signed and numbered and the print is A3 with an image size of 16x19cm.

Gatchaman/Battle of the planets print now available!

Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to announce the first of five Gatchaman screen prints that I have been working on. The print is in an edition of 100, each individually signed and also featuring 10 very rare chaser prints, which I will randomly insert into the orders. The chaser prints are classed as Phoenix Editions and there will be ten per character in the series.

Gatchaman

I've been busy working away this week at Badger Press on my first run of screen prints, which will be revealed very soon. 


10 Years ago I worked screen printing t-shirts, the hours were long and the deadlines were tight, It's been great fun getting back in to printing and being able to take my time and enjoy it!


The first print depicts Ken from the 1970's japanese television show Gatchaman (or Battle of the Planets in America and England) with the rest of the team to follow throughout 2011. 
The print is a four colour hand pulled screen print on 150 gsm acid-free Norfolk cartridge paper. 
I will also post up production photos when I release the image of the print
between christmas and the new year, so stay tuned!
